Subaru of Clear Lake (“we,” “us”) provides this notice to describe the personal information we collect on this website, why we collect it, and the rights you have. We are the business responsible for your personal information. We use service providers, including a website services provider, to operate this website and its features on our behalf.

We collect this information from you, from your device when you use this website, and from our service providers. We use it to run this website, respond to you, complete the transactions you request, provide financing prequalification when you ask for it, personalize your experience on this website, market our vehicles and services, and meet our legal obligations.

Financing Prequalification and Credit Applications

If you use this site’s prequalification feature (which may be labeled “Get Pre-Approved”), you provide information and authorize us and our service providers in writing to obtain a consumer report about you through a soft inquiry. A soft inquiry does not affect your credit score. The information you provide and the results are used for the financing review you requested and are handled under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. They are kept separate from the advertising and analytics described in this notice and are not sold or shared for advertising.

If you submit a credit application on this site, the information you provide, which may include your Social Security number, income, and employment details, is sent to us and to the lenders you select, and is used to process the application you submitted.

Chat, Text, and Phone Calls

If this website offers chat, the chat is answered by our automated assistant (a bot), which the chat window identifies for the whole conversation. Chat conversations are recorded and stored, and the messages you send are processed by the artificial intelligence technology that powers the assistant.

If you text with us, we keep those messages; our text program’s terms appear in our Terms of Use and at the point you opt in.

Calls to and from the phone numbers on this website may be recorded and monitored for quality, training, and record keeping, and you will be notified during any call that is recorded.

We use chat, text, and call records to respond to you, complete your transaction, train our staff, and keep the records the law requires. We do not sell them or share them for advertising.

Whether We Sell or Share Personal Information

This website uses advertising cookies, tags, and similar tools, including tools placed for our vehicle manufacturer’s programs and our advertising, and the categories marked “Yes” above may be shared with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, meaning advertising targeted to you based on your activity across different websites. We do not sell personal information for money. You can opt out at any time using the “Your Privacy Choices” link in the footer of this website or our Privacy Request Form. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as an opt-out. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information except to provide the services you request and as the law permits.

How We Disclose Personal Information

We disclose personal information to service providers that operate this website and its features for us under contract, including our website, communications, and advertising providers; to advertising partners as described in the sharing section above; to lenders and financing sources, at your direction, when you ask us to pursue financing; to our vehicle manufacturer and its program administrators for program reporting; to professional advisors; and where the law requires it.

How We Protect It

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, and our service providers are required to protect it under their contracts with us. No website, network, or method of transmission can be guaranteed fully secure, so please use care in what you choose to send us.

How Long We Keep It

We keep personal information as long as needed for the purposes above and as the law requires. Records connected to a financing prequalification are kept for the period federal law and our credit reporting obligations require, and are then disposed of securely.

Your Rights

Depending on your state, you may have the right to know and access the personal information we have about you, receive a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To exercise a right, use our Privacy Request Form, email, or call 346-568-4820. We will verify your request, respond within the time your state’s law sets, and tell you how to appeal if your state provides an appeal right. You may use an authorized agent. Requests about your credit report itself follow the dispute process in the prequalification materials instead.
